A Letter from Ron "Fritz"
A hobby of mine briefly was going through old comic books to find letters from future professionals in the industry. I didn't find any letters from Ron Frenz until I came across a letter in Incredible Hulk #197 from a Ron "Fritz" in Pittsburgh, PA. Any fan of Ron knows that's the city he hails from. I reached out to Ron and he confirmed to me that he was the one who wrote the letter. A 15 year old Ron Frenz thought he had seen John Romita's art in the Samson figures in Incredible Hulk #193 and his brother challenged him on it, so he wrote in to Marvel to see who was right. As the entry for Incredible Hulk #193 on Marvel Fandom noted, it was common for art director John Romita to redraw covers and interiors to bring them in line to the Marvel style. These are the Samson images from issue #193. Good eye, Ron!
