MC2 A Day

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Pat Olliffe Synopsis: May is stuck in the past with a Spider Slayer, Spider-Man and the Human Torch after her.  Comments: It's kind of weird tangent when J. Jonah Jameson thinks Spider-Man might be gay when he mistakes Spider-Girl for him. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Pat Olliffe Synopsis: Spider-Girl and Peter Parker team up to fight Mr. Nobody and Crazy Eight.  Comments: Peter finally accepts May as Spider-Girl. Zane and Jimmy Yama are revealed to be cousins.  Moose starts to suspect Courtney is Spider-Girl when she goes into a women's restroom and Spider-Girl emerges seconds later. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Pat Olliffe Synopsis: Spider-Girl goes up against Killerwatt.  Comments: Nothing really. Good issue. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: Stinger and Ant Man go inside Mainframe. The other members of A-Next investigate a mystery in the basement.  Comments: Thunderstrike sees a vision of Bloodaxe, his father's enemy. Whenever I used to see Bloodaxe, I used to think he was the Red Skull.  Aerika is revealed to be a Harkness.  The word "gypsy" probably wouldn't be used today.  The spirit who confronts A-Next was, according to Ron Frenz, an early design of Crimson Curse.  A-Next finds the Scarlet Witch.  The story takes its cues from Avengers #93 where Ant Man went inside the Vision to fix him.                                                    

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: A new group of Avengers band together to fight Loki.  Comments: Samantha Joyce, a supporting character in DeFalco/Frenz's Thor/Thunderstrike run, is mentioned.  The appearance of Jolt and Jubilee somewhat date the book since they were very popular in the 90s/early 00s.  Speedball was created by Tom DeFalco and Steve Ditko.  Kevin mentions the Stuntmaster and the Steel Spider. Steel Spider will appear in Spider-Girl 32.  Loki's actions again form the Avengers in their first issue.  Kevin's costume reflecting how he wants to look will show up years later in the 616 (the main Marvel Earth) Thunderstrike mini-series by DeFalco and Frenz.  Shannon Carter's (American Dream) first appearance as the Avengers Mansion tour guide. Ron Frenz doesn't recall if she was meant to be American Dream at that time or not.  A tip of the hat to  A Comic Odyssey (frogoat.blogspot.com)  which is an MC2...

Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: A-Next meets Argo the Almighty, the son of Hercules.  Comments: American Dream conducts tours in a modified version of her costume. Due to the modified suit, I assume she's giving tourists the impression that she's just an employee who is cosplaying as American Dream. It also functions as an inside joke/mythology gag since this was an early design of American Dream.  Kevin says he works as a dishwasher.  It's a pity we never got to see if Hercules recovered.   

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: The secret of Mainframe and the last days of the Avengers are revealed.  Comments: I wonder who the loved one was who Freebooter lost?  First appearance of Hope Pym (name and face are revealed later). She's a villain in the MC2 universe. However, most people know her as the Wasp in the Ant-Man and Avengers movies.  The Avengers line up and look in the flashback seems based on the Avengers line up of Kurt Busiek and George Perez who were the creative team on the title at the time. It's even more evident since Justice and Firestar are members in the flashback.  It looks like Justice, Firestar, Living Lightning, Tigra, Firebird perished in the alternate dimension.
