MC2 A Day

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Pat Olliffe Synopsis: Dragon King lurks in the basement in the basement of Midtown High.  Comments: I didn't know Dragon King could fly.  Kevin partnering with Dragon King reminds me of Willard/Ben from Willard , Willie Watt/The Golem from Batman Beyond, and Tom Riddle/The Basilisk from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets .  I'm glad Dragon King got to change back into a human.  I'm also glad May and Davida have reconciled. 

  Writer; Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: Spider-Girl has to rescue Normie when the Queen of the Goblins kidnaps him.  Comments: That Black Tarantula sure is a charmer, but his mother described his father as charming as well.  Elan hasn't chosen the "Fury" moniker yet. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: The showdown with Lady Octopus and Black Tarantula.  Comments: "Comparing measurements." Pretty risque for an all ages comics.  I'm sure Spider-Girl didn't expect this.  In fiction, when someone says someone else is tied up, then whoever they're telling should be instantly suspicious because it always means they're literally tied up. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: Spider-Girl is at odds with her benefactor, the Black Tarantula, when he makes his move to becomes the new Kingpin.  Comments: May still isn't convincing Sandra that Howard is bad news.  I keep thinking this pose is a swipe from something.  I don't play chess, but I'm sure Black Tarantula is holding a king and a pawn.  Continuing Spider-Girl and Her Amazing Friends feature. 

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz Synopsis: Spider-Girl and her team take on Canis' attempts to seize the underworld.  Comments: Peter's reference to as to the reason for Mary Jane's freak out happened in Amazing Spider-Man #299-300. She was terrorized by Venom who initially mistook for Peter.  Canis sounds like a Scooby Doo villain at this point.  Sandra is giving May the cold shoulder since she knows May doesn't approve of her getting back together with her abusive boyfriend Howard.  I like the mix and match of costumes.  The first Spider-Girl and Her Amazing Friends feature. 

Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Ron Frenz  Synopsis: Spider-Girl breaks out a new costume.  Comments: There's Elektra, last seen in Wild Thing #2.  I'm sure it's a total coincidence that those women chose "April" and "June" as their codenames. Not the last time, Spider-Girl will team up with someone named April.  A Kodiak bear is an Alaskan brown bear. Another creation from Tom DeFalco's animal card collection? In any event, this is Kodiak's only appearance. Perhaps, he followed a different path and went back to being a waiter.  Sandra is back with Howard, unfortunately.  There's Stacy the salesgirl. May also like the black costume because she used a black costume in her early Spider-Girl days (cf. Spider-Girl # 1, 6-7) Spider-Girl's entrance in the black costume on a full page spread is in the same pose as her debut in the red and blue costume in What If? #105 I like how distressed Spider-Girl seems over the destruction of Handsome Ric...

Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciller: Pat Olliffe Synopsis: Lady Octopus breaks Canis out of prison to form an alliance.  Comments: This is a Pat Olliffe issue that advances the main arc. His fill ins on issues #71 and #80 where villain of the month stories that did not advance the overall story arc.  Oh look, there's Felicity after nearly two years.  Canis is having trouble in prison and not getting the luxury treatment like Fisk. It's like what Mike Ehrmantraut told Walter White.  Looks like Elan and the Black Tarantula are both wanting a partner and will team up to get them.
