Spider-Girl #25

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Pat Olliffe

Synopsis: Spider-Girl faces the Savage Six or is it Seven?

Comments: This story takes its cues from The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1. I wonder if this was originally conceived as a possible annual?

May gets a new hairdo.

Davida's Jennifer Lopez comment is a reference to the 2000 Grammy's where Lopez wore a green Versace dress. The dress even has its own Wikipedia page

I'm surprised the word "whipped" in that context made it in.

I like how small Funny Face looks when Crazy Eight reveals their relationship.

Though she won't be introduced until much later in the MC2 Universe, Angel Face is mentioned several times in this story as just the mother of Funny Face and Crazy Eight. She was first mentioned in Spider-Girl #22.

May's nascent career as a photographer and Daily Bugle employee comes to an end. Jameson never finds another job for her.

Raptor delivers the message of Courtney and JJ's kidnapping to Jameson like the Vulture did in ASM Annual #1. Jameson is less flippant when his grandson is kidnapped than he was when his secretary was kidnapped.

Spider-Girl also has to collect a card from each defeated foe to find the address for the next fight where she has to fight a villain in a custom setting of their choosing and the fights begin with a full page spread. The same thing happened in ASM Annual #1.

This may have been the point where Moose gave up the idea that Courtney is Spider-Girl. Even someone as dim as Moose had to realize Spider-Girl couldn't be in two places at once. At this point, Moose genuinely liked Courtney.

American Dream still has short hair.

A subplot in ASM Annual #1 was that Peter thought he lost his powers, but it turned out to be in his head and his powers came back when he faced Electro, the electricity guy for the Sinister Six.  May actually loses her powers in this issue and it happens when she faces Killerwatt, who is the electricity guy for the Savage Six.
