Amazing Spider-Girl #17

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: A new player, the Crimelord, makes a play to auction off the Fisk files.

Comments: This two parter follows the cues of Amazing Spider-Man #26-27, in which the Crime-Master, who looked visually similar to the Crimelord and the Green Goblin were in a mob war to be head of all organized crime in New York City.

Both stories start off with the Crimelord and Crime-Master intimidating other gang leaders.

Cottonmouth makes an appearance here. At the time of this comic's publication, he had only appeared in Luke Cage, Power Man #19-20 in which he was defeated by Cage. He's probably best known now in the public consciousness by being played by Mahershala Ali on Luke Cage

Gene continues his manipulation on May.

Male strippers? Is this an all-ages comic? MC2 Hollywood star Leonard Groote is mentioned who first appeared in Spider-Girl Annual '99 and was impersonated by Mindworm in Amazing Spider-Girl #13

Some of the other mob leaders at the summit are Man Mountain Marko who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #73 and Delilah, who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #414. The pseudo-vampire Bloodscream fed on Delilah in Amazing Spider-Man #435, which might account for her chalk white skin here if she has become a vampire creature as well. As for her lieutenants having chalk white skin, she may have turned them as well.

Hobgoblin captures Spider-Girl to use her as a bargaining chip at the mob summit to become the new Kingpin the way Green Goblin captured Spider-Man at the end of Amazing Spider-Man #26.
