Amazing Spider-Girl #18

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: The mob showdown reaches a climax with a stunning twist.

Comments: The issue begins with the Hobgoblin depositing Spider-Girl in front of the gangsters just like the Green Goblin did to Spider-Man in Amazing Spider-Man #27.

With Mindworm betraying the Hobgoblin, the fight devolves into a free for all and the Hobgoblin is forced to team up with Spider-Girl to survive. One of the ways you can tell this is the same Delilah from DeFalco's Amazing Spider-Man run is that she speaks with flourishes that displays itself in large colorful font. May also tells her father that she's watching a shoot 'em up movie which was the same lie she told Davida in Spider-Girl #55. Peter, unlike Davida, does not believe her.

Man Mountain Marko decks Spider-Girl and she falls back the same way Spider-Man did while fighting Marko in Amazing Spider-Man #73

The police arrive to help just like they did in Amazing Spider-Man #27

Charlie Kurkle is killed by Deadspot and the Crimelord turns out to be Mona Carlo, Charlie's girlfriend. In Marvel Team-Up #40 (drawn by Amazing Spider-Girl artist Sal Buscema), the second Crime-Master shoots the second Big Man only for it to turn out to be his girlfriend, Janice Foswell. In both cases, both the Crimelord and second Crime-Master were devastated.

Deadspot never reveals who contracted her. What a pro and I don't think the readers ever find out either. I think it was Mindworm, because the person who contracted made a little quip that their phone connection was bad because they were in a dead spot and Mindworm made those little quips.

Hobgoblin kills Mindworm and then goes to the Caribbean to lick his wounds like he did at the end of Spectacular Spider-Man #261.

Benjy's hearing is restored.

Unfortunately, May gets back together with that jerk Gene.
