Amazing Spider-Girl #25

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Ron Frenz, Todd Nauck

Synopsis: While April impersonates May, May takes a journey into her own psyche.

Comments: We never find out what ultimately happened to Sara Hingle beyond the X-People taking charge of her.

Amazing how much information April got from May's diary. Of course May's diary has been shown to be good at summarizing her adventures as Spider-Girl in Spider-Girl Annual '99 and Amazing Spider-Girl #0.

Baby spider-sense.

Arana is still using the anglicized "Michael" for Miguel.

Peter is hooked up the Winkler Device. There should be a poll: Winkler Device or Wizard's Id Machine?

May meets her great-aunt May who will act as her Jiminy Cricket for the rest of the series. Aunt May came to Spider-Girl's aid before in Spider-Girl #90. Both Mays seem to be familiar with Joseph Campbell and his influence on Star Wars

The sound effect the Spider-Girl manifestation in May's mind makes is "Rrrrraaaalllff", a possible reference to Marvel editor Ralph Macchio, who sometimes spelled his name as "Ralf."

Arana saying "Come with me if you vant to live", presumably with a Schwarzenegger accent has to come from his line in T2: Judgment Day, since native born English speaker Michael Biehn said it first in The Terminator.

There seems to be a disconnect with the writing and the art since Gene keeps saying he wants to yell at May, but he's obviously lunging at her in a violent way.

In this back up feature, we find out who had baby May after Alison Mongrain and the beginning of Norman's plot: Project Changeling. It's the first appearance of Phillipe DeJunae, Elan's father. I admit to having gotten Phillipe DeJunae and Rene DeSantos confused before.
