Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #4

Image
Writer: Seanan McGuire Penciller: Rosi Kampe Synopsis: May attends Karn's spider wake.  Comments: Okay, I guess Gwen is Ghost Spider. It's hard to keep these things straight.

Spider-Geddon #5

Image
Writer: Christos N. Gage Penciller: Jorge Molina, Carlo Barberi, Stefano Caselli, Joey Vazquez Synopsis: The conclusion to Spider-Geddon.  Comments: The flashback of Ben Reilly being struck by the Goblin Glider comes from Peter Parker: Spider-Man #75.  The Spider-Girls arrive and they are powered up thanks to Anna-May's "Patternmaker" powers.  The Spider-Girls use their enhanced abilities to provide a beatdown on the Inheritors with May going for Daemos.  Then all the Spiders pile on. The Inheritors are regressed to infancy and Spider-Ma'am (May Parker), who first appeared in What If vol. 1 #23 agrees to raise them. There was another Spider-Ma'am from another alternate reality, who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man Family #3,  who would dress up in Peter's costume, but didn't have any powers. I guess reality is somehow rewritten and Peter Parker of Earth 982 is revived. I'm not sure if his death will be remembered or if the family has to come ...

Spider-Girls #3

Image
Writer: Jody Houser Penciller: Andres Genolet Synopsis: The Spider-Girls try to figure out the mystery of the scroll.  Comments: The Spider-Girls rip off the vault door like Spider-Man did to the Kingpin's vault in Amazing Spider-Man #69.  May and Anya take over a suit of armor to fight the Inheritors and May still owes them over how they killed her father.  The Spider-Girls seem to figure out the meaning behind the scroll. May refers to Benjy and this time it's spelled correctly.

Spider-Girls #2

Image
Writer: Jody Houser Penciller: Andres Genolet Synopsis: The Spider Ladies investigate the mystery of Normie Osborn.  Comments: May's flashbacks are taken more or less from Spider-Girl #0/ What If #105, Spider-Girl #54 and Spider-Girl #93. The visual appearances are somewhat different. Normie's symbiote costume had a mouth. And despite the cover of issue #93, he did not spring extra arms within the pages. I just wanted to note that because he has extra arms in this reality.  Normie has gained extra arms like Peter did in Amazing Spider-Man #100.  When Normie turns into a spider monster, May encourages everyone to remain calm. I google "Keep Calm"; "Spider-Man" and found this below.

Spider-Girls #1

Image
Writer: Jody Houser Penciller: Andres Genolet  Synopsis: May and Arana journey to another reality to warn a family of Spiders.  Comments: I'm calling her Arana, even though she was probably Spider-Girl at this point.  I never read Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows where these characters first appeared, but a family of Spider people seems pretty cool. It's explained later in the issue that Mary Jane's powers derive from her suit which is powered by Peter's spider abilities.  Andres Genolet's art on May/Spider-Woman here really reminds me of Pat Olliffe's.  Alternate reality Vultures, like Electros, don't cause May too much trouble.  Benjy's name is spelled as "Benji." He's not a dog.  This Earth's Peter and Mary Jane are shocked by May because like their 616 counterparts, their May was stillborn, hence why their daughter was named Anna-May.

Spider-Geddon #2

Writer: Christos N. Gage Penciller: Jorge Molina Synopsis: The Web Warriors continue to battle The Inheritors.  Comments: A good reminder to new readers what May's stake is in all this when she brings up how the Inheritors killed her father.
