Wild Thing #2

Writers: Larry Hama, Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Ron Lim

Synopsis: Elektra encounters an old enemy while out shopping with Rina. Back up story: J2 fights his father to prove he's worthy of being the new Juggernaut.

Comments: The plot seems similar to War Games (1983) in which a teen thinks they're playing a video game, but it affects events in the real world.

I like how Colin assisted a superhero in thwarting a kidding attempt by a super villain last issue, but all he and Josh can talk about is Rina's dad and his motorcycle. Cameron's dad is a bigger jerk than J. Paul Getty when it comes to his kidnapped relatives.

How does Josh know what a Norma Kamali outfit is on sight? More to the point, what are he and Colin high fiving over? That Rina's mom isn't poor and unkempt like Cameron thinks, but rich and glamourous like them? Cameron sure is racist though.

Josh and Colin seem to have no idea what they saw, but it's "kewl" because Rina is getting a bunch of video games, I guess. It's like what Jay in Men in Black says about 2nd Lt. Jake Jensen, "It's like really excited to be here, but he has no idea why."

"There can be only one" is a famous line from Highlander (1986). It's the movie where a Scotsman is played a Frenchman and an Egyptian is played by a Scotsman.

J2 drops his grunge phase and gives his dad back his sweat shirt.
