American Dream #5

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Todd Nauck

Synopsis: The final fight between Silikong and his forces and American Dream and the Avengers.

Comments: The fact that the word "hope" is in big letters is probably not a coincidence since Hope is the first name of the Red Queen.

Uh, take note. Shannon uses peppermint bath soap.

Giant Silikong seems to be as effective against American Dream as giant Piccolo was against Goku. Which was not effective at all.

American Dream counts on Silikong being a coward to get him to shrink down and surrender. She doesn't answer when he asks like the bank robber in Dirty Harry that he has to know. While I think the Avengers try to find any way to take an enemy alive, if they have had to defend their own life or the lives of other innocents, the Avengers have killed. Hawkeye accidentally killed Egghead in Avengers #229, Captain shot an U.L.T.I.M.A.T.U.M. agent who was firing into a group of hostages in Captain America #321 and Thor killed Blockbuster who was murdering the mutant Morlocks in Thor #374. American Dream's bluff also reminds me of Archie Comics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle #25 where Rapheal gets Krang to get off Shredder's body under the threat that he's going to kill him.

Shannon has a found a friend in Grafton and a cause in campaigning for immigration. She's still not going to go out with Kevin. I'm also sure she's a full fledged Avenger again.
