Spectacular Spider-Girl vol. 1 #3

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: May/Spider-Girl fights Tombstone while April fights a fire.

Comments: As with the final full page spread for the previous issue, the cover is taken from Spectacular Spider-Man #142.

A lot of panels of the fight are taken from Spider-Man/Tombstone fights in Spectacular Spider-Man #142 and #206, both that were drawn by Spider-Girl inker, Sal Buscema. Spider-Girl's reaction to punching Tombstone is also similar to her father's.

Tombstone also uses a pipe against Spider-Girl like did with her father in Spectacular Spider-Man #142.

First appearance of Guido. Nunzio made a background appearance last issue. They are visually based on Tom DeFalco (Guido) and Ron Frenz (Nunzio).  In another series they worked on, a Guido and Nunzio appeared in Kickers, Inc. #3.

I guess turning the other cheek isn't April's thing.

The identity of "Gwen Reilly" is revealed to be Connie Fredickson. Connie's mother, Kolina Frederickson, appeared in the Revenge of the Green Goblin miniseries, which was drawn by Ron Frenz. Connie's last name is spelled differently, but an explanation could be that as a grifter, Connie used variations of her name in scams.
