Amazing Spider-Man Family #4 (Swiney-Girl)

Synopsis: The origin of May "Mayday" Porker, the spectacular Swiney-Girl. 

Comments: The Spider-Ham in these stories takes place on a different Earth than the Spider-Ham that Tom DeFalco created years ago. On this Earth, Peter Porker was a pig who was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of vice-versa on the original Spider-Ham earth.  The fight Spider-Ham has with the Green Gobbler seems to be taken from the end of the first Spider-Man (2002) movie where Spider-Man rescues a bunch of children on the Roosevelt Island Tram from the Green Goblin. Reed Richards is Weed Wiskers here. On the original Spider-Ham's earth, he is Mooster Fantastic. Although we shouldn't get too caught up in continuity when it comes to Spider-Ham because he was drawn inconsistently in comics that took place on that Earth, as the examples show from Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham #1 and #12.







While she's Mary Crane Watsow-Parker here, Mary Jane was Mary Jane Waterbuffalo on the original Spider-Ham's world. Spider-Ham getting kidnapped and carried away by the Green Gobbler is the same pose as the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #39. 

 





I like how May chooses the black costume because black is a slimming color. Mary Crane uses her fashion designer experience to take it in. 



In the flashback of Spider-Ham battling the original Green Gobbler, Peter has a damaged mask like Peter Parker in the first Spider-Man movie at the end.

  Superman #149, brothers Randall and Ron Frenz credited on the cover. The Randall Frenz Interview When I first read the issues of Thor #400 and #401 back in high school (this would have been in the early 2000s, years after they were first published in 1989), I saw the name of Randall Frenz. I was familiar with Ron Frenz, the penciler of Thor , The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Girl , but who was Randall Frenz? Was it Ron's real name? Was it his alter ego? I even admitted as much when Ron wished Randall a happy birthday on Facebook.  However, I saw that there was confusion from others online as to who Randall Frenz is. The above commenter is correct, but they should have written  is, not was.  Years later, with the advent of YouTube and a book written by Tom DeFalco titled  Comics Creators on Spider-Man , I also learned that Randall Frenz is Ron's older brother through various interviews that Ron has conducted.  Randall wrote 13 published comic book stories for Marvel and DC

Avengers Unlimited Infinity Comic #37

Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciler: Ron Frenz Synopsis: J2 tells Bluestreak an untold story of the Avengers in Asgard.  Comments: The flashback in this story takes place between pages 20 and 21 of A-Next #1.  MC2 is really set in the here and now, because smart phones, selfie sticks and even selfies were not a thing in 1998 when A-Next #1 was published.  Bluestreak and J2 are ignorant of Avengers history, since A-Next #1 established that Jolt and Jubilee were Avengers and that was confirmed again in Spider-Girl #32, along with Speedball. It was ambiguous if he was ever an Avenger in A-Next #1. It's also a bit of retcon that an appeal was sent out to a host of heroes. The appeal was sent out to reserve Avengers, Jubilee and Jolt got the signal as did Stinger because her technology was so similar to Ant-Man's (Scott Lang), a former Avenger. J2 and Speedball did not get the signal and joined because the saw the commotion with the trolls.  A-Next #1 referenced a glorious celebration

Avengers Unlimited Infinity Comic #38

  Writer: Tom DeFalco Penciler: Ron Frenz Synopsis: A foe from the Avengers first battle comes back to seek revenge.  Comments: Uroc was first appeared in Thor #408 and was created by Tom DeFalco and Mike Mignola. In Thor #450, Uroc's left hand was frozen and destroyed by the special forces police team of Code: Blue. In Wolverine #137, written by Eric Larsen and drawn by Jeff Matsuda (designer on The Jackie Chan Adventures and The Batman ), Uroc had both hands intact, so Uroc's history on Earth 982 must diverge from Thor #450 and the events of Wolverine #137 did not happen. Uroc was created before Hellboy (Mignola's most famous creation), but shares a resemblance to him with the filed down horns on his head. Frenz has strengthened the resemblance by giving Uroc a presumably prosthetic uru left hand that resembles Hellboy's right hand as a tribute to his creator.  Sabreclaw looks like the trolls.
