Synopsis: While contemplating giving up being Spider-Man, Peter recounts his origin to Mary Jane and sets out to battle the Hobgoblin when he abducts a friend.
Comments: The opening page is taken from Amazing Spider-Man #39.
Flash is such a jerk to his girlfriend when she confronts him over his cheating. Then he punches Ned, who is rightfully angry over Flash sleeping with his wife. I think those acts of physical violence are going to come to bite him.
Amazing Fantasy #15 is reprinted in its entirety. I was glad they kept the pupils showing through the mask when Spider-Man realizes who the burglar was. I've seen some reprints that take them out.
Peter is beating himself up because he made with the snappy patter when Sin-Eater gunned down some innocent people after Spider-Man dodged the blast. I think the incident in Spectacular Spider-Man #108 shows that Peter was torn up on the inside over it at the time.
Tom DeFalco said he was planning on the Rose to be Roderick Kingsley and Richard Fisk to be the Hobgoblin, but it makes more sense for Richard to be the Rose because why would the Kingpin fear a war with Roderick Kingsley?
