DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Amazing Spider-Man #265

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciler: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: Spider-Man protects the aging jewel thief, Black Fox, from Silver Sable and her mercenaries.

Comments: This is the first credit Jim Owsley has on a DeFalco/Frenz production as editor. It's a relationship that won't end well.

Silver Sable, another character to come out of the animal safari cards.

I actually like the idea of Spider-Man wearing different costumes for day and night. In Webspinners: Tales of Spider-Man #17-18, which was a DeFalco/Frenz production, he used his black costume for a mission that required stealth.

Another excuse to keep Spider-Man in the black costume!

I always wondered if Peter was ever annoyed that Harry named his son "Norman" because it would a constant reminder of who killed Gwen.

Ron Frenz and his lady friend are apparently acquainted with Liz.

Black Fox gives a sob story about wanting to get back to his family, which turns out to be totally false. There was a story of Mr. and Mrs. Spider-Man written by Tom DeFalco where a career criminal tried to pull a similar con on Peter and Mary Jane.

Peter and May finally reconcile. In real time, this subplot went on for a year.
