DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Thor #417

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciler: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: The conclusion of Thor's fight with the space vampire.

Comments: I'm not really sure what the space vampire's name is. He only appeared twice. Marvel Fandom calls him Dark Dweller. The cover calls him the Stalker from Space.

I remember I got this comic book from a comic book store in Cambridge, MA. I was in the Harvard University bookstore with my grandparents. We were on vacation on the East Coast. Anyway, my grandmother asked one of the clerks at the Harvard University bookstore if they knew of any comic books stores around and I was afraid he would look down his nose at the question but he and other employees actually knew of one nearby.

The cover of this issue is taken from Thor #160.

The main story and the back up story in this issue have identical panels of Odin waking up in bed. Back up story pencils by Gary Hartle.

Thor defeats the space vampire by hurling him in the sun and brings Susan home, who has conveniently forgotten the whole thing. Marcy shows up to torment Eric some more. The Celestial clone Thor is on its way.
