DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Thor #433

Writer: Tom DeFalco
 Penciler: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: Eric has his first adventure as the new Thor.

Synopsis: Not much an auspicious beginning for the new Thor. He gets his clock cleaned by Ulik after unintentionally freeing him and embarrasses himself to Captain America.

Eric somewhat combines the Spider-Man line about great responsibility and something Thor said from Thor #126 that power misused is power abused. Eric referring to the 90s is kind cringe and dated.

Eric uses Jarlson to pick up his costume, a reference to Sigurd Jarlson, a previous human alias of Thor.

I guess clothes make the man. Eric now has the confidence to outfight Ulik and renews his alliance with Stone. I always liked Eric's Thor costume. I don't think other artists were able to pull it off as well to the extent that I thought they made him look like an overweight neckbeard at times.
