DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Thor #436

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciler: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: Thor battles the Absorbing Man and Titania who are trying to reunite.

Comments: His ironic thoughts show that Eric has a very Spider-Man like problem in his superhero life getting in the way of his personal life. Back in 1991, weren't cell phone like gigantic?

With her "pay attention the next time a woman says no" lecture, Titania gives a very Thelma and Louise like speech.

"I pity the fool..." I guess the Absorbing Man thinks he's Mr. T.

Eric's stalker is still after him.

This is some awkward exposition. "I slammed into him with the force of a runaway thunderbolt."

Creel muses about Shakespeare. He probably is unaware that Titania named herself after a character in A Midsummer Night's Dream

Pretty Woman had just come out the year before in 1990. Which means while he was bound to Thor, Eric still had time to see it. I wonder if he saw it with Jackie Lukus?

Eric comes home to find Hercules watching The Flintstones on TV in the same pose as he was watching them in Thor #409. Jackie Lukus wore a Fred Flintstone shirt in Thor #427.
