DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Thor #442

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciler: Ron Frenz

Synopsis: With the return of Don Blake, Eric thinks he's found where Thor has been exiled to.

Comments: Uh, I don't know what "Blake" is referring to when he says "power medicine." What comes up in a Google search for me are sexual enhancement drinks, that I think look dubious. "Blake's" is using good social engineering to gain Eric's trust. He should become a hacker.

Is "Blake" doing Susan's surgery at a medical school where anyone can observe? "Blake" performing surgery on someone who was harmed by magic reminds me of Journey into Mystery #108 and Thor #153, where he operated on Dr. Strange and Sif, respectively, using his knowledge of magic and medicine. To the other medical professionals, I wonder what it looks like? Does it look like he's tinkering with their livers?

Eric's thoughts that he didn't think it would end like this is what Darko heard Eric say out loud when he viewed the time screen last issue.

Eric looking contemplatively at his cane and "Blake" stamping the cane to transform seem to be taken from Thor #408.

Except "Blake" is Mephisto and he's got the cane! I guess the loophole with demons is that they have to trick you into giving them something. They just can't take it like how vampires can't enter your home without an invitation.

"The nurses! They were demons in disguise!" is some awkward exposition. But Eric has to somehow get Thor's hammer back.
