Spectacular Spider-Man #177 & #216

Synopsis: Spider-Girl aided her father in some time travel shenanigans against Sandman and Lady Octopus in two different Spectacular Spider-Man comics published in the UK. 

Comments: I read that the Spectacular Spider-Man started off as a comic book tie to the 1994 Spider-Man animated series and after that was canceled, the comic continued with its own continuity. That reminds of me Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic that followed the lead of the Saturday morning cartoon version of Sonic the Hedgehog and then continued on its own when that show ended. 

There's a full synopsis of issue #177 here.  The most interesting thing about the synopsis is that they reveal when May gets back to her reality, Peter tells her he remembers her encounter with Spider-Man from this story. I think this is probably not 982 May, but one very similar, since the Spider-Man of this world is designated Earth 9411. 

There isn't a synopsis for Spectacular Spider-Man #216 that I could find, but the artist John Royle published a page from the story on his Deviantart page. I feel like a person who can only review a lost silent film from the few stills that are left or can only get information from the surviving poster and contemporary movie reviews. 




I think the artwork looks good and Spider-Girl's costume seems to be drawn accurately. Hopefully someday, I get a chance to read and review them.

The Randall Frenz Interview

The Randall Frenz Interview When I first read the issues of Thor #400 and #401 back in high school (this would have been in the early 2000s, years after they were first published in 1989), I saw the name of Randall Frenz. I was familiar with Ron Frenz, the penciler of Thor , The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Girl , but who was Randall Frenz? Was it Ron's real name? Was it his alter ego? I even admitted as much when Ron wished Randall a happy birthday on Facebook.  However, I saw that there was confusion from others online as to who Randall Frenz is. MC2 Dangler: J2's place on the Avengers

 Tom DeFalco is not Chris Claremont in how he would leave plotlines unresolved that fans call "danglers", but there were some subplots in MC2 that were not resolved or at least not resolved to my liking. This is the start of a series where I examine a dangler and its non-resolution.  By the second issue of A-Next, Thunderstrike (Kevin Masterson) was already annoyed by J2's enthusiasm, but that annoyance turned to dismay when he finds out that J2 is a really young teenager named Zane. Thunderstrike thought they shouldn't allow someone so young on the team because of the risk and the liability. Stinger, who I suspect already knew, had them table the conversation for later.
