Spider-Ham 25th Anniversary Special

Writer: Tom DeFalco
Penciller: Adam DeKraker

Synopsis: Swiney-Girl faces Crayfin the Bunter!

Comments: This story is a parody of Kraven's Last Hunt, a storyline written by J.M. DeMatteis and illustrated by Mike Zeck that ran through the Spider titles in 1987. It was parodied as a Spider-Ham story in What The--?! #3, where Kraven was Raven the Hunter and the cover of the story parodied the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #294.

The opening pages are parodies of the opening pages of Web of Spider-Man #31 with the nude Crayfin and his narration.

The burying of Swiney-Girl alive comes from the last page of Web of Spider-Man #31.

Swiney-Girl's rising up from the ground is taken almost panel for panel from the opening of Web of Spider-Man #32.

The title "Fearful Swinery" is a parody from a line from the poem "The Tyger" by William Blake. The full title of Kraven's Last Hunt is Fearful Symmetry: Kraven's Last Hunt. A paraphrased version of the poem features in Web of Spider-Man #31.

Mary Crane's suggestion to use the phone book reminded me Stinger's suggestion to use a phone book to track down Canis in Spider-Girl #38.

Swiney-Girl saying her father prioritizes catching criminals over saving innocents is a pretty skewed sense of priorities.
