DeFalco/Frenz Retrospective: Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Comic Magazine #3

Writer: Erik Laren, Eric Stephenson, Tom DeFalco
Penciler: Eric Shanower, Ron Frenz, Tom Scioli, Keith Giffen

Synopsis: The Fantastic Four team up with the X-Men and other heroes to stop rogue Sentinels.

Comments: Bruce Timm gave a good interview on how this 12 issue maxi-series came about. He didn't think much of it. Paul Ryan also worked on the series and he didn't think much of it either. I thought it was okay when it came out and I liked the contributions that Bruce Timm and Ron Frenz did on the artwork. Tom only scripted three issues of this series. Ron contributed art to eleven of the issues.

Crystal refers to Lockjaw as a dog. John Byrne tried to retcon Lockjaw a sentient Inhuman who could talk in The Thing #3. He was retconned back into a dog in X-Factor #71.

Some good Ron Frenz art here.

Marvel Girls faces off against the training robot Colosso from X-Men #22.

Dr. Strange's costume with the full face mask is accurate. This takes place between his appearances in Incredible Hulk #126 and Marvel Feature #1, the latter where he went back to his classic look, unmasked.
